A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Indonesia's Central Sulawesi province on Sept. 28, 2018, triggering a tsunami and landslides that caused widespread destruction and loss of life. More than 2,000 people are known to have died and at least 2,500 are seriously injured, according to Indonesia's National Agency for Disaster Management. About 1.5 million people in Central Sulawesi are likely affected. With about 65,000 houses damaged or destroyed, more than 330,000 people are homeless or without adequate shelter.
